NO VISA FOR TRAVEL TO MARTINIQUE AND GUADELOUPE

Barbadians will no longer need a visa to travel to the French Overseas Departments of Martinique, Guadeloupe (including Marie Galante, La Desirade and Les Saintes), French Guiana and Reunion.

TWINNING OF LONDON BOROUGH OF HARINGEY WITH HOLETOWN

Minister for International Business and International Transport, the Hon. George Hutson and Mayor Councillor Bernice Vanier display the signed documents along with Leader of the Council Ms. Lorna Reith and Deputy Mayor Mr Eddie Griffith. Also pictured is the Acting High Commissioner for Barbados in the United Kingdom, Mr.Donville Johnson.

The London Borough of Haringey and the town of Holetown in Barbados now have a twinning arrangement which seeks to facilitate the development of ties between the two towns, through a series of cultural, educational and sporting exchanges.

BARBADOS SIGNS TAXATION AGREEMENT WITH LUXEMBOURG

The Hon George Hutson, Minister of International Business and International Transport and H.E. Mr. Hubert Wurth, Ambassador for Luxembourg in the UK sign the DTA.

 

Barbados has signed a Double Tax Agreement (DTA) with Luxembourg which will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries particularly in the area of financial services.

NEW YEAR BRINGS NEW EMBASSY IN BRAZIL

Ms. Yvette Goddard, Barbados' first resident Ambassador to Brazil

Barbados will have a new Embassy in Brazil by January 2010. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Maxine McClean, made the official announcement today as she disclosed that agrément has been granted by the Brazilian government for the accreditation of senior foreign service officer Ms. Yvette Goddard as Barbados’ first resident Ambassador to Brazil.

BARBADOS AND SWITZERLAND SIGN AIR SERVICES AGREEMENT

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Maxine McClean, initialing the Air Services Agreement with Switzerland's Ambassador Armin Mitz. Looking on is Chief of Protocol, Hughland Allman.

 

The signing of an Air Services Agreement between Barbados and Switzerland should serve "to expand international air services opportunities and facilitate increased opportunities for tourism, trade and commercial activity" between the two countries.

SIGNATURE OF THE BARBADOS/FRANCE MARITIME BOUNDARY DELIMITATION TREATY



Non-resident Ambassador of France to Barbados Mr. Michel Trinquier and Minister of Foreign Affairs  and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Maxine McClean signing the Maritime Delimitation Treaty on the behalf of their governments.
 

Representatives of the government of Barbados and the government of France on Thursday, October 15, signed an Agreement on the delimitation of the maritime space between Barbados and France. Signature of the accord was effected on behalf of the government of Barbados by Senator the Hon. Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and on the French side by Mr. Michel Trinquier, non-resident Ambassador of France to Barbados.
