The High Commissioner of Barbados, His Excellency, Mr. Guy Hewitt and the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus, His Excellency, Mr. Euripides L. Evriviades, recently signed a Convention for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income.  The official signing Ceremony took place at the High Commission for the Republic of Cyprus in London, on May 3, 2017.

 

The Agreement provides a framework for the facilitation of investment between the two countries as well as trade and investment flows.  Closer social and cultural cooperation is also expected..

 

The High Commissioners agreed that their countries can work towards more tangible outcomes from the tax treaty.  They also agreed that there was scope for closer cooperation between Barbados and Cyprus in multilateral fora based on the common interests.

 

Barbados and Cyprus established diplomatic relations on February 27, 1972.
