Foreign Policy
  • Overview

The foreign policy of Barbados, managed by the Foreign Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, includes the establishment and preservation of harmonious relations with foreign governments; the promotion and enhancement of the economic and cultural interests of Barbadians; and the promotion of Barbados as a stable parliamentary democracy and an efficient place in which to do business.

To fully define and understand the foreign policy of Barbados requires an appreciation of the characteristics that make the country what it is: its physical features, its national character, its social values, the economic principles on which it is built, and the political ideals for which it stands as a sovereign member of the community of nations.
