The Consulate General of Barbados in Toronto is excited to announce the official launch of its new webpage, set to go live on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. This milestone makes the Toronto Mission the first Barbados Consulate abroad to introduce a dedicated page.
Barbadian officials in Toronto emphasise the importance of having a central, reliable, and official source of information for the public. Without such a platform, several unofficial websites have surfaced, often providing inaccurate information to unsuspecting persons.
Kurt Haynes, the newly appointed Vice Consul-General at Toronto, remarked: “It’s crucial that the Barbados Consulate provides essential, up-to-date information to our diaspora, potential investors, and other partners. Efficient information sharing is at the heart of meaningful consular service.”
Vice Consul-General Haynes further highlighted that the Consulate already maintains very active social media channels, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
“The Canadian diaspora has come to expect the Consulate in Toronto to keep them well-informed on key issues, enabling them to seize opportunities and make informed decisions. In today’s digital age, being an information-sharing Consulate means providing instant access to what matters most,” he added.
The new webpage will offer a variety of resources, including details about consular services, investment and philanthropic opportunities in Barbados, links to other key Barbadian government agencies, directories of non-profit Barbadian community organizations in Canada, as well as coverage of cultural, social, and foreign policy events. One of the key features will be an appointment scheduling portal, allowing the public to easily book in-person visits to the Consulate.
Consul David Gibbs expressed his gratitude, saying: “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the team here at the Consulate, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Barbados, and our external partners who have dedicated countless hours over the past two years to bring this project to fruition. This initiative is a true labour of love and represents a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to leverage technology and enhance our service to the diaspora.”
