Minister Husbands Bids Farewell To Australian Envoy

Australia’s High Commissioner to Barbados, Bruce Lendon, recently paid a courtesy call on Minister of State in Foreign Trade and Business, Sandra Husbands.

The courtesy call was a formal goodbye as non-resident High Commissioner Lendon’s tenure will come to an end on January 30, 2023.

Minister Husbands, while acknowledging that there had always been a cordial relationship between Barbados and Australia, expressed the hope that the relationship would be strengthened.

During the meeting held at the Ministry’s offices at Culloden Road, St. Michael, the two officials discussed the impact of climate change on their countries, as well as, technical support for the development of sporting academies; cooperation in life sciences and marine management, and The Bridgetown Initiative.

Also present at the meeting were: Permanent Secretary, Simone Rudder; Senior Foreign Service Officer, Trecia King; and Foreign Service Officer, Craig Brathwaite.

Barbados and Australia established diplomatic relations on January 7, 1974.
